Did I ever mention that I hate VB? Because I do, with every fiber of my body. It appears to be a language that combines all the legibility of C and all the conciseness of SQL with all the efficiency of Java. It joyfully flaunts all the standard programming language conventions without any gains in elegance, efficiency, or readability to show for it. Generally I've been happy enough to pretend that this abomination did not exist, but I just had to take an online quiz for one of my upcoming interviews where I had to convince the program that I knew how to code for Access (which I don't), and it looks like it uses VB for all its scripting. I don't know who managed to convince Microsoft to use that horrible mockery of a programming language for all their internal scripting applications, but that person needs to be dragged out into the street and shot.

Busy busy day. Started out with an email from my headhunter asking for 3 business references, so the morning was spent tracking down former coworkers and getting their permissions along with contact info.

Then my alarm rings and I realize that I have 10 minutes 'til my doctor's appointment. I set the schedule in my watch assuming I'd still be working, considering his office is about 2 minutes' walk from my former workplace, but from my home driving there and finding parking was significantly longer than 10 minutes (in hindsight, it would probably have been faster for me to walk/jog down there).

After that it was a short drive down to the campus to drop off my headphones at ketsugami's (mine are nice, powerful, and sound insulated Sennheisers. Excellent for coping with roommates whose musical tastes don't match yours, but a bit bulky for walking around in, and I don't need them at the apartment since we have excellent sound isolation). Then off to the building next door to grab tripods and other assorted stuff for tomorrows Activity Fair from Neal (and drop it off at Django's), and finally to my old office to see if Rob would let me scavenge some bits and pieces for the Linux box (which I will build one of these days, dammit). No luck tracking down Rob, but I did run into SeanP, who was the one coworker whose picture I failed to take on Friday. Should be added shortly to the office photo gallery.

Then back home for a quick lunch/dinner, and finally back to campus for the Go club meeting. It's actually a fairly respectably sized club, and has some really awesome players (one gave me one hell of a fight on a 13x13 board with a 9-stone handicap, while the other provided a solid and difficult game on a full-sized 19x19 board with a 6 handicap). I can definitely see myself attending their meetings in the future, schedule permitting.

Now it's time for some UY, a bit more A+ Certification reading, some Disgaea, and then finally sleep, sweet blissful sleep.
